A leader's perspective...
Visit Finland during spring or summer, when the Midnight Sun offers endless days that suggest a country that never sleeps. Who could sleep with well over 100,000 lakes and islands to explore? In Helsinki I love weaving my way through the markets in the early mornings and sampling the freshest of strawberries while the buildings of Tsarist Russia are just a few metres away. The island fortress of Suomenlinna, which recalls centuries of Swedish rule, is also just across the harbour. Did someone mention Eurovision? Helsinki is the proud home of the most recent winners and will host the 2007 Contest. I can’t think of a better place to watch the contest live – why not bring your friends and join us?
